John VanDerVoorn

John is a PADI Staff instructor and Master Instructor from East Peoria. He began diving in 1966, received his PADI instructor certification in 1974, and started Aqua Diving School in 1975. John teaches numerous specialties. He is an Emergency First Responder Instructor and an EFR Instructor Trainer (John can certify students to become EFR instructors!). He was a Red Cross WSI instructor. John is a former chemistry professor at Illinois Central College and has taught college scuba classes for Bradley University, ICC, Eureka and Lincoln College. John has taught more people to scuba dive than anyone in the Peoria area. John has traveled throughout the Caribbean and the Pacific over the past 40 years. He is a certified travel expert for the Far Pacific including Bali, Truk, Palau, Fiji, New Guinea, and Australia. John and his wife, Lauri, loves to guide trips to these exotic locations. John completed the PADI Self Reliant Instructor course, PADI’s version of solo diver, June 5, 2012. John became a Fusion Dry Suit Instructor in 2013. Specialty instructor in Wreck, Deep, Night, Videograpy, Search and Recovery, Cavern, Boat, Nitrox, and more.
